Okay, here goes.

I want to do great things. I know that seems like an abrupt - brash, even - start to an introduction, but I figure getting straight to the point would be a refreshing sort of thing to and would have hopefully captured your attention for the next few odd or so paragraphs. Bear with me. Having turned 18 (the most widely accepted “coming of age” milestone - with the exception of alcohol consumption in a majority of North America which is proper bullshit if you ask me) within the past month, I realized that in my not-so mature existence of less than two decades, I have made little to no impact on this planet whatsoever. And so it was, that on a Wednesday night (Thursday, 4 AM) when this inspired idea came to mind, my restless mind immediately came to the conclusion that I should document this journey by - voila! - blogging.

Perhaps I should start with a short introduction of myself. I go by Katrina, more commonly referred to as Kat and/or Chewie (yes, like Chewbacca - the basis of the nickname, in fact). Currently based in Toronto and of mixed Asian descent. I’m fascinated by both the arts and the sciences and everything in between. I don’t sleep enough, and there are far too many things I’d like to do with my life. Pop culture is my thing. A fan of intelligent conversation, birthdays, l’heure bleu, big league sports, and nice smelling people. My heart belongs in the city or by the sea. It is 5 in the morning on a Sunday while I write this entry, which I think speaks for itself. There will undoubtedly be more along the way, so this should suffice for now.

As a massive social networking junkie (proud owner of a multitude of social networking sites that will be linked up in the sidebar), this blog was a spur of the moment move to take advantage of the uncharacteristic motivation that overcame me. But truth be told, a little part of me has always wanted to do this, and after approximately 27 (at least) failed attempts on personal projects, I decided that my first move as a responsible (?) adult (???) should be to start taking accountability for the things that I want to do with my life and just do them already, goddamnit.

Hence the next problem had been posed - what to do with this insignificant little journal of mine?  Well, here are a few things you might expect to show up.

  • personal anecdotes and documentation of my day to day life in various forms
  • art projects that I’ll dabble in here in there (such as, but not limited to, lomography, sketching/paints, experimentation, et cetera)
  • good tunes
  • fascinating articles/clippings I happen to come across on the web
  • frustrated rants about quitting school/this blog/life
  • a whole lot of nonsense as a consequence of my constant sleep deprivation

What you will see on this blog will most likely not be consistent (I’ve given up with empty promises of “I will blog tomorrow!”), but it will (at least try very, very hard to) be original, witty, inspired, and most importantly, honest about my exploits and ongoings. This blog will hopefully be an escape from the mundane tasks of my daily life as a wannabe, tryhard pre-med student and a reminder to myself - and perhaps to you as well - that life is dimensional, a fact we should all take advantage of and indulge in. In doing so, I will have done a great thing by encouraging and inspiring you to do the same and live, instead of merely existing.

And so it begins.

I completely forgot this blog existed. Under construction.
